The doctors and nursing staff are excellent. This review is for the reception staff and practice manager. Recently my GP has left the surgery. I have seen another doctor previously that was not my registered GP.The GP in question had requested I come back and see him with an ongoing issue. I tried to make an appointment to see the GP. I believe this is a simple request. Despite explaining this to the receptionist I was refused to make this appointment because I was not on their register. I asked if I could be registered to GP in question, I was then told this would not be simple. I would need to write a letter with a request and this would need to be reviewed. This is a bureaucratic time wasting exercise.When you read through the other reviews here, you can see patients have been asked to contact the practice manager for help. I have, twice. Using the QJS website I have raised a complaint with the practice manager. I received an automated reply saying to expect a response within 2 working days. 5 working days later I rang the surgery to seek a response, apparently, an email had been sent to me 5 minutes earlier, there was no email (spam folder empty). The receptionist spoke with the practice manager on my behalf, they could have taken my call but chose not to. I was then quizzed again why I wanted to change GP and told to read the email that was never sent.This is not a good patient experience, you have obstructed me making an appointment with a GP. There is no communication, the practice manager is failing to do their job. I have little choice but to seek advice from the Health Service (NHS) Ombudsman.
Got me feeling better
Certainly the best surgery I've used (and I've lived in lots of places!). Staff always friendly & helpful, phone answered quickly, variety of appointments available and I've never waited longer than 10 mins after an appointment time. And the waiting room has loads of space.
The doctors are good and take any problem seriously. They never seem offhand or complacent. Dr Rennie is outstanding in this respect. Nursing staff friendly and caring.
